Estate Reserve is a limited edition Macallan from the 1824 Collection, made for the duty-free market in a 70cl bottle. It is a non-chill-filtered Speyside single malt, made from a range of whiskies matured in sherry-seasoned Spanish oak hogsheads.
The packaging came from a collaboration with the photographer Ernie Button, whose pictures show the dried sediment left in a glass of single malt.
Lemon and orange peel open the nose, followed by vanilla, dark chocolate, and floral and light oak notes. Citrus, boiled sweets, ginger and cinnamon lead the palate, with toasted apple. The finish is medium sweet, malty and slightly dry.
