This is a single cask Canadian single malt from Macaloney's Island Distillery in Saanich, on Vancouver Island. For the Peat Project, local barley was smoked at the distillery with Washington peat and sugar kelp to 54 ppm. The whisky matured entirely in ex-bourbon cask 878 and 245 bottles were filled in March 2025 at 46%, without chill-filtering or added colouring.
The nose brings sea breeze, beach-fire smoke, cream soda and ripe pear. The palate is sweet, creamy and viscous, with kelp, butterscotch, vanilla pod and lemongrass. The long finish carries walnut, oiled oak, smoked oysters and a hint of salt.
