Macaloney Peat Project Red Wine Cask #164 Canadian Single Malt (70cl, 57%)

This is a Canadian single malt from Macaloney Brewers & Distillers Ltd, part of the Peat Project series. It is a single cask bottling from cask 164, bottled in 2022 at 57% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The cask was a Portuguese red wine recharred barrique, and 201 bottles were filled. The nose combines smoke with red berries and a touch of spicy vanilla. On the palate it is complex and powerful, with mellow red wine, fine peat smoke and a light woody note. The finish is long and dry, with warming smoke and a fruity aftertaste.
