MacNair's Lum Reek 10 Year Old Cask Strength (70cl, 55.4%)

This is a ten year old blended malt that combines matured Speyside and Islay single malts with GlenAllachie single malt. Billy Walker selected and married the whiskies, then the vatting went into Spanish sherry casks, wine barriques and virgin oak casks for a further period of maturation. Batch 1, released in February 2022, was the first cask strength edition of the ten year old Lum Reek. It is bottled at its natural 55.4%, without chill-filtration or colouring. The nose pairs smoke with heather honey and ginger, plus cinnamon, dark sugar syrup and vanilla. The palate is rich with dark chocolate, ginger and citrus, with smoky spices, cooked plantain and tannins. The medium to long finish is sooty, ashy and chocolatey, with raisins, prunes, dates and a little oak.
