Maker's Mark 46 is a wheated bourbon from the Maker's Mark Distillery in Loretto, Kentucky, in a 75cl bottle. Bill Samuels Jr. created it, and it was the first release in the distillery's wood-finishing series.
Fully matured Maker's Mark is emptied from its barrels, ten seared French oak staves are fitted inside, and the bourbon goes back in for several more months in a limestone cellar.
The nose offers toasted oak, caramel, vanilla bean and dried dark fruit. The palate brings caramel, vanilla, toasted marshmallow and seared oak with a warm note of baking spice. The finish is long and warming, with sweet oak and caramel.
