Maker's Mark 46 (70cl, 47%)

Maker's Mark 46 is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the Maker's Mark Distillery at Star Hill Farm in Loretto. Matured Maker's Mark at cask strength is finished with ten charred staves of new French oak, which spend nine weeks in the barrel in the limestone cellar. The name refers to stave profile number 46. It is bottled at 47% ABV, or 94 proof, in a 70cl bottle. The 46 goes back to Bill Samuels Jr. and appeared in 2010. Toasted French oak, caramel and warm baking spices come through on the nose. The palate is mildly sweet, with dense vanilla and baking spices in a creamy texture. The finish is velvety and restrained, and lingers pleasantly.
