Maker's Mark – Cask Strength Batch 23-06 (70cl, 54.8%)

This is Maker's Mark Cask Strength, a wheated Kentucky bourbon from batch 23-06, in a 70cl bottle at 54.75% ABV. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The Cask Strength series vats whisky from 24 casks, each aged for at least seven years, and bottles it without added water. Red winter wheat takes the place of rye in the recipe. Batch 23-06 adds sweet pastry notes and a hint of red fruit. The nose combines vanilla, grain and oak with sweet pastry and some alcohol. On the palate, spicy oak meets sweet, buttery biscuit and red fruit. The finish is long and warming, ending sweet with a light touch of oak.
