This is a three year old Japanese single malt from Mars, distilled in 2014 and drawn from a single bourbon barrel, number 2004. It was bottled in 2017 at 60% ABV in a 70cl bottle, one of 229 produced for Whisky Talk Fukuoka.
The barrel was aged in the stone warehouse at the Tsunuki site in Yakushima, Kagoshima, where the hyper-ageing is said to make the whisky act about four times its stated age.
Mars opened its Shinshu distillery in Miyada, Nagano Prefecture, in 1985. It was mothballed in 1992 and reopened in 2011.
