This is a 4 year old Japanese single malt from Mars, distilled in 2020 at the Tsunuki distillery and matured in a single Spanish virgin oak cask, number T1880. It belongs to the Foundations series and is bottled at 60.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Tsunuki opened in 2016 and is recognisable by its 26-metre black tower, which still houses the column that made shochu until the 1970s.
The nose is described as ample, with chestnut, Chantilly cream, orange, pomegranate, raisin and green Chartreuse. The palate moves from almond and cashew to grenadine, chocolate bitterness, thyme, pepper and malt. The finish brings banana, orange and salted butter.
