Mars Komagatake Limited Edition 2021 Shinshu Aging is a Japanese single malt from the Shinshu distillery, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It was matured in bourbon and sherry casks and is limited to 50,000 bottles.
It comes from the Komagatake range, which has been in development since 2018, and is described as setting the future style of Mars single malt. The whisky is elegant and oily, with fruit from apricot to melon and persimmon, and nutty sherry character.
The colour is amber. The nose offers quince, apricot, banana and vanilla cream. On the palate, honey and hazelnut from the sherry casks meet the gentle sweetness of melon and persimmon. The finish is soft and clean.
