Mars Komagatake Voyager Estate Wine Cask Finish 2021 Release (70cl, 48%)

This is a Japanese single malt from Mars, made in collaboration with Voyager Estate of Margaret River, Western Australia. It is the second collaboration between the two, with 924 bottles produced at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was distilled in 2016 at Mars Shinshu Distillery in Nagano Prefecture and matured for more than three years in a bourbon barrel. It then spent a further 15 months in French Troncais oak that had held Voyager Estate's flagship MJW Cabernet Sauvignon. The colour is a pale red rose. The nose offers grapes, berries and pomegranate, the mouthfeel is smooth and elegant, and the finish is long and viscous with umami and sweetness.
