This is a 2017 Mars Tsunuki single malt from a single first-fill bourbon cask, number 2082, bottled at 60% in a 70cl bottle. It is one of 175 bottles, part of the Tsunuki Ageing New Vibrations release.
Mars Tsunuki ages its whisky on Yakushima Island, where the climate speeds maturation.
The nose is mandarin, orange juice, malt cereal and white flower, with hints of meat. The palate opens with vanilla, malt, white oak and clove, then turns to orange juice, mango and smoked wood. The finish is long, dry and warming, with ginger spice and oak.
