This is a Japanese single malt from Mars, the whisky brand of Hombo Shuzo, bottled as New Vibrations from a single first-fill Bourbon cask. It is one of 175 bottles at 60% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The Tsunuki Distillery sits in the subtropical south of Kyushu.
The nose offers mandarin, orange juice, malt cereal, white flower and hints of meat. The palate opens with vanilla, malt, white oak and clove, alongside stewed meat, before turning to orange juice, mango, smoked wood and barbecued meat. The finish is long, dry and warming, with ginger spice, oak, orange juice and stewed meat.
