Mars Tsunuki 2022 Edition is a Japanese single malt from the Tsunuki distillery in Kagoshima, owned by Hombo Shuzo. It is bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
The whisky was matured in ex-bourbon barrels. It is the distillery's first limited annual release, at about 35,800 bottles. Production at Tsunuki began in October 2016 and the first whisky was released in April 2020.
The nose is smoke, cooking spices and orange, with apricot, marmalade and vanilla. The palate is full-bodied, sweet and fruity, with cocoa butter, light citrus and green oak, and the finish is long and warming with bourbon sweetness.
