Mars Tsunuki – Peated Distilled 2016-2017 Bottled 2020 (70cl, 50%)

This is a peated single malt from Mars Tsunuki, the Japanese distillery that belongs to Mars Hombo Shuzo. It was distilled between 2016 and 2017 and bottled in 2020 at 50% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is the second release from the distillery and puts the peat element of its whisky to the front. About 14,830 bottles were released. Honey and peat come first on the nose, followed by barley and crisp apples. The flavours are sweet and smoky, and they carry through the finish.
