Mata Vermouth Tinto Reserva (15%)

Mata Vermouth Tinto Reserva is a Spanish red vermouth made in Bierzo. It was revived by Patrick Mata from a family recipe dating to 1880 and is made in the French style. The base is 90% Mencía and 10% Godello. It is macerated with spices for more than 18 months in French oak. Botanicals include wormwood, clary sage, gentian, saffron, elderflower, star anise, bitter orange peel, cardamom, cinnamon and pomegranate bark. The flavours run to macerated berries, forest floor, cooked plum, blueberry, peach, cinnamon and herbs. It is lightly sweet and bittersweet, with a round, velvety texture. It can be served neat, over ice or in cocktails.
