Merlet Les Brumes de Coperies Single Malt (43%)

Les Brumes de Coperies is a French single malt from Merlet & Fils in Saint-Sauvant, Charente-Maritime. The barley is grown, malted, brewed and distilled in France, and the spirit is double distilled in copper Charentais pot stills. It matures in French oak, a mix of new and older casks, then spends several months finishing in peated whisky casks before bottling at 43% ABV. That finish adds delicate smoky notes. The colour is amber-gold. The nose offers cooked fruit and woody spices over a delicate smoky base. The palate opens fresh, then moves to fruity notes with woody and spicy accents. The finish is fairly long and delicate.
