Millstone Special #30 is a 27 year old Dutch single malt from a single American oak cask. Zuidam made it from malted barley, distilling it twice on 25 October 1996, and filled the bottles on 1 November 2023. The cask gave 229 bottles at a natural strength of 41.57%, without chill-filtration or added colour.
The year of distilling is the one in which the Zuidam family laid down its first experimental whisky casks.
The nose is fresh and lively, with orange oil, ripe apples, honey-glazed nectarines and sweet malt. Mandarin, candied orange, plums and honey lead the palate, with toasted oak and malt. The finish is long, with honey and fresh fruit.
