Millstone 5 Year Old 2017/2022 Oloroso Sherry Cask (46%)

This is a five-year-old Dutch single malt from Millstone, the whisky made by Zuidam Distillers. It was distilled in 2017, bottled in 2022 and matured in Oloroso sherry casks, at 46% ABV. Zuidam is one of the last independent distilleries in the Netherlands to work on a farm to glass basis, and the grain for Millstone is still ground in mills. A fermentation of seven days, longer than average, gives a fruity and complex new make. Peaches and apricots come first, followed by orange, chocolate-covered raisins and a little black pepper.
