Millstone Single Malt American Oak (70cl, 43%)

This is a Dutch single malt from Zuidam, made from unpeaked malted barley and matured in American oak casks. It carries no age statement and is bottled at 43%, without chill-filtering or added colour, in a 70cl bottle with a gift tube. The fruity character starts before the casks: a clear wort is fermented long and cool with a mix of brewer's and distiller's yeast, then distilled slowly. The nose is soft vanilla and caramel with gentle honey sweetness, warm tropical fruit and wood. The palate is soft and round, with toffee, coconut, honey and caramel, light oak spice, cinnamon and pepper. The finish is medium to long, with gentle sweetness and light oak.
