Minor Case Straight Rye is a sherry cask finished rye from Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon, Kentucky, run by Steve and Paul Beam and named after their great grandfather, a pre-Prohibition distiller. The mashbill is 51% rye, 45% corn and 4% malted barley. After ageing in new charred oak, it spent around eight months in American Meier's No. 44 Cream Sherry casks, and it is bottled at 90 proof (45%).
It is a rich amber, with a nose of vanilla, butterscotch, caramel, juicy orange and dried fruit. Cinnamon and black pepper meet figs, raisins, dates, sweet cherries and a touch of chocolate on the palate, and the finish is smooth, sweet and oak driven.
