Mortlach 13 Year Old Legends Untold is a 2021 Special Release single malt from Dufftown, in a 70cl bottle at 55.9% abv. Its character draws on virgin casks.
The nose opens mellow and rounded, then brings freshly oiled wood. Savoury, meaty notes follow with a sweet tartness, suggesting roast pheasant with redcurrant jelly, above a moorland base of heather pollen and freshly crushed herbs. A drop of water brings out a sweet, fruity hint of lime.
