Mortlach – 13 Year Old Legends Untold Special Release 2021 (70cl, 55.9%)

This is Mortlach 13 Year Old, the Legends Untold bottling from the 2021 Special Release, in a 70cl bottle at 55.9% abv. Mortlach is known as the Beast of Dufftown, and this expression takes its character from virgin casks, giving a well-structured and intensely flavoured whisky. On the nose, freshly oiled wood comes first, followed by savoury, meaty notes with a sweet tartness, like roast pheasant with redcurrant jelly. Beneath them sit heather pollen and freshly crushed herbs, and a drop of water brings out a sweet, fruity hint of lime.
