This is a 16 year old Mortlach from a single refill hogshead filled in 2007, part of the Equinox & Solstice series. It is reduced to 48.5%, the strength the series uses throughout.
The nose combines wax, oils, cereals and butter with baked apple, starched fabric and a fatty olive oil note.
On the palate it is full-bodied and oily-sweet, with waxes balanced by green and yellow fruit and cereal. The finish is long, warming and peppery, with more green fruit and some floral notes.
