This is a 12 year old Mortlach distilled in 2009, finished in a Barbados rum cask and bottled by Càrn Mòr at 47.5% ABV. It is a Speyside single malt, drawn from a single rum cask for 942 bottles, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose brings heather honey, pear, a little barley and sweet rock sugar. On the palate the fruit comes through more strongly, with red berry purée and jam, a hint of wood, then dark chocolate or cocoa beans. The finish is medium to long, dark-fruited and oily, recalling plain chocolate.
