Mortlach 'The Katana's Edge' is a Speyside single malt from Diageo's Special Releases 2023 collection, named as a tribute to the precision and power of the Japanese katana sword. It comes in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky was finished in a combination of ex-Kanosuke Japanese whisky casks and ex-Pinot Noir casks. It is bottled at natural cask strength, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour.
Dried cherry, dark plum and earthy spice lead on the nose, followed by dark chocolate, black tea, grilled peach and warming spice on the palate. The finish is long, dry and spicy, with red fruit and toasted oak.
