Murray McDavid The Vatting Peatside 6 Year Old 2014 Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 50%)

Peatside, from Murray McDavid's The Vatting, is a limited-release blended malt Scotch whisky that brings together two single malts: one heavily peated and smoky, the other creamy and sweet. It was distilled in 2014 and aged for six years. Maturation took place in bourbon hogsheads, followed by a finish in first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry and bourbon casks. It is bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle and comes in a copper-coloured tube. The nose combines coastal peat smoke, pineapple and creamy vanilla. The palate brings sweet smoke, fresh citrus, sherried fruit and oak spice, and the finish is smoky peat with pepper and baking spices.
