Nelson Brothers Classic Rye is a Tennessee rye whiskey from Nelson's Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, bottled at 46.25% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It won a Platinum medal at the ASCOT Awards.
The mashbill is 64% rye, 30% corn and 6% malted barley. The brothers inverted the rye and corn proportions of their bourbon recipe, and the corn adds a sweetness to the spice. The whiskey was distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company in Kentucky from 2016.
The nose has clove, honeysuckle, anise, vanilla and spearmint. The palate brings nutmeg and rye, dried apricot, sweet mint, cedar and a little chocolate syrup. The finish is medium to long, with leather, cinnamon and dry cedar.
