Nelson Brothers Madeira Cask Finished Bourbon is part of the Cask Finish Series from Nelson's Green Brier Distillery in Nashville, Tennessee. It is bottled at 50.65% ABV (101.3 proof) and is non-chill filtered.
The base is Nelson Brothers Classic Bourbon, a blend of bourbons aged between four and nine years, averaging five years in charred American oak. It was then moved into Malmsey Madeira casks from Spain for a further 3 to 18 months. Head distiller Brandon O'Daniel counts it as his personal favourite in the series.
The nose offers raisin, cherry pie and brown sugar. The palate brings honey-roasted nut, mixed berry and creamy vanilla, and the finish is long, warm and slightly spicy, with cocoa, ginseng and candied ginger.
