A blended Japanese whisky from Nikka, made to mark the 40th anniversary of From the Barrel's debut. It is a limited edition in a 500ml bottle, bottled at 51.4% ABV and made from more than 100 batches of malt and grain whiskies.
After blending, the whisky goes into used barrels for up to six months of further marrying, twice the usual marriage time, so that the components settle together.
The nose is soft oak with chocolate, ripe fruit, vanilla, orange peel and malt sweetness. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with fine oak tannins, and the long finish carries gentle oak with a subtle bitterness.
