Nikka From the Barrel (50cl)

Nikka From the Barrel is a Japanese whisky from Nikka, in a 50cl bottle. It is described as big-boned and full of character, and it takes a little water well. It won the top prize in its category at the World Whisky Awards in 2007 and again in 2010. Nikka was founded in 1934 and is now Japan's second largest distiller, making single malts and blended whiskies at its two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. The nose is medium-bodied and balanced, with cut flowers, fresh fruit, spice and a little oak. The palate is full and punchy, with winter spice, toffee, a little caramel and vanilla, and a good mouthful of fruit. The finish is long, warming and fruity, with a touch of oaky spice.
