Nikka – Nine Decades (70cl, 48%)

Nikka Nine Decades is a World Blended Whisky made to mark nine decades of Nikka's history. It brings together more than 50 components from the 1940s through to the 2020s, including single malts from Yoichi, whiskies from Miyagikyo and batches from Ben Nevis, Nikka's Scottish distillery. It is lightly peated and bottled at 48%, non-chill-filtered and with natural colour. Only 4,000 bottles were released worldwide, and it first launched in Japan on 2 July 2024 for Nikka's foundation day. The nose offers apple pie and raisin with toasty barrel notes and gentle smoke. On the palate come mellow oak, cinnamon, roasted nuts and apricot jam, with maple syrup and a touch of peaty bitterness. The finish is long, with gentle peat and a balance of sweet and sour notes.
