Nikka – Pure Malt Black (50cl, 43%)

Nikka Pure Malt Black is a Japanese whisky in a 50cl bottle, bottled at 43% ABV. Nikka was founded in 1952 in Hokkaido by Masataka Taketsuru. His family had run its own sake distillery since 1733. In 1918 he travelled to Scotland to study chemistry at the University of Glasgow, and worked at a nearby distillery during his studies. The craft of distilling whisky so fascinated him that he decided to take it back to Japan. He created his first own brand in 1940, and the breakthrough came in the 1960s.
