Nikka – Pure Malt Black Japanese Whisky (50cl, 43%)

Pure Malt Black is a blended malt from Nikka, the Japanese producer founded by Masataka Taketsuru in 1934. It is made by marrying single malts from the Yoichi and Miyagikyo distilleries, with no grain whisky in the blend. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 50cl bottle. Yoichi brings richness, earthy smoke and malt depth, while Miyagikyo adds fruit, delicate floral aromas and a softer texture. The nose is malty, fruity and delicately smoky, with toasted cereal, peach and plum. The palate offers toffee, toasted oak, warming spice and a little lemon zest over earthy smoke. The finish is medium and warming.
