Nikka – Pure Malt Red (50cl, 43%)

Nikka Pure Malt Red is a Japanese malt whisky in a 50cl bottle, bottled at 43% abv. It comes from the house founded in 1952 in Hokkaido by Masataka Taketsuru, whose family had run its own sake distillery since 1733. Taketsuru went to Scotland in 1918 to study chemistry at the University of Glasgow, and worked at a nearby distillery during his studies. He was so taken with the craft of distilling that he decided to bring it back to Japan. He created his first brand of his own in 1940, and the company made its breakthrough in the 1960s.
