Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt in a 70cl bottle at 43%. It is dedicated to Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka, and blends malts from the two distilleries he founded, Miyagikyo and Yoichi.
Young, fruity whiskies are combined with mature, older ones, and the blend is matured in ex-sherry casks. It carries a light note of peat.
The nose is peach and grapes with almonds, marzipan and panettone. The palate is malty and sweet, with fresh citrus, coffee, liquorice, toasted oak, cigar, herbs and some wood. The finish is long, with a noticeable touch of peat.
