Nikka Yoichi 15 Year Old is a single cask Japanese malt from Hokkaido, distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2005 from cask number 127032. It is bottled at cask strength, 62%, in a 70cl bottle.
Yoichi distils in pot stills with direct coal firing, and is known for a peated style. This whisky matured in the distillery's coastal warehouses.
The nose is maritime peat smoke with honeyed orchard fruit, vanilla and toasted oak. The palate brings sweet malt, dark chocolate, spiced pear, dried figs and sea salt, with smoke throughout. The finish is very long, with lingering smoke, warming spice and dried fruit.
