Nine Leaves 2018 Armagnac Casks (70cl, 59%)

A limited rum from the closed Nine Leaves distillery in Otsu, Shiga, Japan, distilled in 2018 and matured in Armagnac casks. It is a small batch release bottled at 59% vol. Yoshiharu Takeuchi produced rum from 2013 to 2023 using techniques traditionally associated with single malt whisky. After the distillery closed, La Maison & Velier acquired the remaining stock. The nose is pronounced and deep, with medical notes, spices, fruits, terpenic and autumnal aromas. The palate is rich and smooth, with pine resin, burnt sugar cane and camphor. The finish is dense and full, with liquorice, sandalwood and incense.
