Nine Leaves 2018 Spanish Oak Single Cask #51 (70cl, 59%)

A Japanese rum distilled in 2018 and matured exclusively in an ex-Spanish oak cask. It is part of the Unsun Karuta series, bottled from cask number 51, and celebrates the remaining stock of the now-closed distillery. It is cask strength and non-chill filtered, with no added colouring. The nose brings saffron, cardamom, ripe figs and chestnuts. The palate is soft despite the strength, with pine resin, burnt sugar and an earthy texture. The finish is long and aromatic, with cedar wood and a trace of turmeric, recalling a balanced spiced tea.
