Octomore 13.4 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, released as a limited edition of 3,500 bottles in a 70cl bottle. The spirit was distilled in 2016 from Scottish mainland Concerto barley.
It spent its first six months in first fill ex-American whiskey casks, then moved to American virgin oak with a high toast level for the remaining years.
The nose is earthy smoke and toasted oak with almond, honey and candied peels, later grapefruit. The palate is sweet and structured, with a robust texture, toasted oak, a hint of tobacco, sweet tablet, golden syrup and clove spiced honey.
