Old Ballantruan 10 Year Old (70cl, 50%)

Old Ballantruan 10 Year Old is a heavily peated Speyside single malt from the Tomintoul distillery. It is matured entirely in former bourbon casks of American oak and bottled at 50%, without chill-filtration or added colour. The name comes from the Ballantruan spring, the source of the soft water the distillery uses. Pronounced peat sits alongside the creamy sweetness of a Speyside malt. The nose combines peat smoke with gentle spice and a sweet, creamy centre. On the palate, mild peat smoke and creamy sweetness stay in balance over a malty base. In the finish the sweetness builds at first, then gives way to deeper smoke.
