Old Ballantruan 15 Year Old (70cl, 50%)

Old Ballantruan 15 Year Old is a heavily peated Speyside single malt from the Tomintoul distillery, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The whisky matures only in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak. Its character pairs pronounced smoke with savoury, sweet and spicy impressions. The nose is smoky, with grilled meat, green pepper and green banana, plus eucalyptus and maple sweetness. On the palate come grilled fennel, pak choi and cured meat alongside rich fruit cake, liquorice, black olives and cinnamon sticks. The finish is long and warming, with marzipan, air-dried ham and pistachio, ending in sweet smoke and aniseed.
