Old Ballantruan 15 Year Old The Peated Malt (50%)

Old Ballantruan 15 Year Old is a peated Speyside single malt from the Tomintoul distillery, bottled at 50% ABV. The brand is named after the Ballantruan spring in the Cromdale Hills. The malted barley is peated to 55ppm, and the distillery makes this smoky style for only about six weeks of the year. After 15 years in oak, it is bottled without chill-filtering or added colour. The nose combines gentle peat smoke with mineral, gunpowder-like notes, sweet nectarine, heather and roasted chestnuts. On the palate there is bonfire smoke, juicy berries, soft oak and creamy coffee, followed by a long finish of runny honey and fine spice.
