Old Ballantruan The Peated Malt (70cl, 50%)

Old Ballantruan is the peated malt from Tomintoul distillery, named after a spring in the hills nearby. It is made from heavily peated malted barley and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering, which keeps its natural oils and peaty flavour. It opens with heathery, floral notes followed by smoke. The palate is gentle at first before peaty smokiness and malty flavours build, and the finish is long, with sweet barley and ash.
