Old Fitzgerald 17 Year Old Bottled in Bond is the Spring 2022 release in Heaven Hill's decanter series, a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon at 50% ABV (100 proof). The barrels were distilled in the fall of 2004 and bottled in the spring of 2022.
Wheat rather than rye is the secondary grain, and as a bottled in bond whiskey it comes from a single distillery and a single distilling season. It is presented in an ornate diamond decanter inspired by a 1950s Old Fitzgerald design.
The nose is caramel, vanilla and dark cherry over seasoned oak, leather and baking spice. The palate has honey, butterscotch, brown sugar, dried figs, plums and dark chocolate, and the finish is very long and warming, with dark fruit, cocoa and wood spice.
