Old Forester – 1924 10 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon (75cl, 50%)

Old Forester 1924 is a ten year old Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 50% (100 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is the fifth release in the brand's Whiskey Row Series and marks the centenary of 1924, when the company bought barrels from distilleries closed by Prohibition and bottled that whisky under its own name. It is made to a new mash bill of 79 per cent corn, 11 per cent rye and 10 per cent malted barley, with more corn and less rye than the 72, 18 and 10 recipe used for the rest of the range. The nose is fudge, cocoa, marzipan and cured tobacco over rich oak and warm cinnamon. The palate is rounded, with chocolate-covered graham cracker, cinnamon, toasted oak and caramel. The finish is long and warming, with spice, graham cracker crumbs and oak.
