Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky is bottled at 86 proof (43%) in a 750ml bottle. It is made from a mash of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley and aged in new charred American oak.
The brand was founded in 1870 by George Garvin Brown and was the first bourbon sold exclusively in sealed glass bottles. It remains with the same family owned company in Louisville, Kentucky.
The whisky is a warm amber colour. The nose is sweet vanilla and caramel with ripe banana and toasted oak. The palate is smooth and medium bodied, with butterscotch, honey and baked apple over gentle rye spice and cinnamon, and the finish is clean and warming with lingering oak, chocolate and soft spice.
