This is the 2025 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon, a 12-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle. The release honours the 2 September birthday of founder George Garvin Brown and appears once a year.
The barrels were filled in 2013 and the bourbon was bottled in 2025, after maturing in new charred oak. Each year's Birthday Bourbon is drawn from a particular set of barrels chosen for their individual character.
The nose has caramelised sugar, dark cherry, toasted oak, vanilla bean and baking spice. The palate brings brown sugar, maple, ripe stone fruit, cinnamon and roasted nuts, and the finish is long and warming with oak spice, cocoa and lingering sweetness.
