Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon (175cl, 43%)

Old Forester Kentucky Straight Bourbon was created in 1870 by George Garvin Brown, in a 1.75 litre bottle. It is described as the first commercially bottled bourbon, and the only one distilled and marketed by its founding family before, during and after Prohibition. It is bottled at 86 proof. The nose is sharp and sweet, with floral notes, fresh mint, tobacco leaf and vanilla. The palate starts with oak, pine and a spicy snap, then turns to sweet corn, vanilla and light orange. The finish is long, warm and slightly drying, with lingering sweetness.
