Old Forester Single Barrel Barrel Proof (75cl)

This is a private barrel selection from Old Forester's single barrel programme: a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at barrel proof, in a 750ml bottle. The strength runs from about 64% to 67% ABV or a little above, depending on the barrel. It is made at the Brown-Forman distillery in Shively, with a mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley. Old Forester warehouses are heat-cycled with steam, which pushes the barrels through temperature swings in winter. The bourbon is bottled uncut and unfiltered. The nose is toffee, dark cherry, brown sugar and vanilla. The palate is cherry, molasses and caramel, then toasted oak and tobacco. The finish is long, with oak, dark cherry and baking spice.
